The Wall location is filthy once you get up close and it seems as though the same equipment is always being serviced but never actually gets fixed.
I have been going to this gym for 4 years and seen it go through a lot of changes. I love the name change and the meaning behind it. The gym itself is always clean, and I see the same staff every day with a friendly smile. Even though the gym and working out is not my "happy place," I am happy to go here.
Perhaps, some management training would be good for her although usually you can’t change someone personality. It’s unfortunate because I do have a group of people I work out with at the ocean facility however they did understand the circumstances. It sounds like I’m not the only one who has negative things to say about this girl.
I will give credit where credits due. Most of the employees at the front desk are friendly, the Ocean facility is a lot cleaner/nicer and Michelle is a fabulous instructor.
Anyhow, I hope I've been useful in passing my experiences onto you. I do wish for you, the reader of this fine anecdote, to be successful in your job search. I am sure you possess great experience, skill and knowledge; that's precisely why you're looking to better your career and find a path that benefits you. Assuming that you are a wise individual with a 'good head on your shoulders,' I am positive that you will make the right decision in your search (and close this tab).
Initially, I was going to freeze my account because I got a spinal fusion which prevents me from working out for the next 6-8 months. I decided to cancel it after speaking with the manager. When I called, I was extremely turned off by the customer service and management, Stephanie specifically. She was extremely rude when requesting help with this matter. I had to call several times because I was told I would get a call back and never did. When I would call would be put on hold while the gentleman at the front desk went to and from her office asking her questions and then proceeded to give me “no” as a response every time. When I asked to speak with her, I was told she was unavailable. Very unprofessional and an embarrassment to your establishment. Needless to say, Stephanie never actually called me back so I took it upon myself to keep calling. She was just as useless when I actually got her on the phone. Rude is an understatement. She gave me one word answers in a disgusting tone and was overall very unhelpful and cared less about losing a client. I asked for instructions as to how to cancel my account because I could not find it on the website to which she kept responding, it’s on our website it’s on our website.
But this is the main reason for my negative review...
I mean really, who cares about how the money is made if there's MONEY involved? Who cares about your mental and physical health, or even your personal life? It doesn't matter if you've committed theft, scammed someone for thousands of dollars, or have gotten a 'little too friendly' with some members. A successful company is founded on money, and for that reason, this one is a winner.
Although Wall was the first location to appear in my Google search, I direct this message to ALL locations as they all work in unison.
I believe this facility overall lacks customer loyalty but with proper training and the correct people in the managerial role, it’s always possibly to turn that around.
The facility is absolutely amazing! It's huge, so you can easily workout whenever without feeling like you're on top of other people. They have so many classes! They are lots of fun to get in an do with your friends or just by yourself. You get to meet great new people here and make tons of friends. This facility has 5 fitness studios in one building! It's like a fitness factory! And we as members hold the golden ticket!
The place is rarely clean, people at the front desk barely acknowledge you when entering or leaving, and the barbell stations are lacking. There are only two bench press stations, three squat racks, and a bunch of other useless stations in the weight room area. Get organized and add some more useful barbell stations. You should have at least four benches, five squat racks, and a few deadlift stations.
For starters, this gym changed its name from “wow” to “Jersey Strong” because of poor reviews and lawsuits due to their deceitful, dishonest contracts... or so I’ve been told by an inside source.
You might be wondering, as a prospective employee, are there any experiences or special skills required of me? In fact, there are plenty. The most highly coveted traits are as follows: A criminal record, drug abuse, adultery, and my personal favorite, being fired from a previous position. I can confidently say that unlike most companies, Jersey Strong is more than willing to give you a second chance. Do you want an idea of how grateful they'll be for having you back after your 'troubles'? How about an 8 1/2" x 11" copied paper with your name on it in Arial font? Believe it or not, that medal of honor will be posted, with a thumb tack, in the corporate office. If you've got what it takes to lie and cheat your way to a sales goal, you'll quickly become the Top Gun.
Best of luck to you!
As a former employee who took it upon themselves to leave this company, I am writing to inform those who are seeking employment in a fitness-based environment. That being said, for a company that advocates a healthy lifestyle, they made it nearly impossible for me to nurture my own well-being.
In regards to frequently asked questions during a job search... scheduling. Working for this company will leave you with plenty of time! You'll find yourself using that time to be working in the comfort of your home. If you aren't working, you're probably using that time to catch your breath. Other than working tirelessly from home, you'll most likely be scheduled for 9-10 hour shifts for 6 days a week. Also, don't think twice about letting a second of that time go to waste; you'll surely be called out at 1.) One of the twice daily staff meetings 2.) The daily conference call 3.) A biweekly corporate meeting. Oh and remember that Memorial Day party you had planned? Sorry, you have to work on holidays too.
I should probably warn you because I care; don't plan on getting sick any time soon! You won't be given any sick days. Ever. Get vaccinated, kids. Now I'm sure you're thinking, "Oh it's fine, I'll take vacation day." Yeah, no, it's not fine. You don't get any paid time off until a year of employment. It's great though, I mean, you get a whole 5 days. Choose wisely.
